DANES OVER DEPRESSION!!!
As promised we are releasing the first weekly installment of “Danes over Depression”. Brought to you by Great Danes of the Ozarks.
This weekly publication is in honor of my brother Tim and is dedicated to anyone who battles depression, anxiety, loneliness, addiction, etc. We sincerely hope these stories bring you joy and warm your heart as much as they do ours! Ragnar’s Story:
Adopting a Great Dane was something I had dreamed about for many years. My husband was unsure of the idea, but after adding him to some Great Dane pages on Facebook, it wasn’t long before he was sold!
We researched and found what we prayed was the perfect breeder and, man, did we hit the jackpot with Devin at Great Danes of the Ozarks!
Deciding on just one story to tell about Ragnar is just impossible but when Devin asked us to participate I jumped at the opportunity. Every single day with my boy is a new adventure. Our family and friends all said “you don’t need one of those, it’ll be like a horse in your house” and man am I glad we didn’t listen!
Coming home from work is now exciting knowing that my giant is going to be waiting at the door for me, tail wagging, knocking stuff off my walls with his excitement. It’s really something to come in and just look down and get a kiss from my boy without even having to bend down.
He is a permanent fixture in our home. All of our furniture is now his, and he uses it just like us, sitting in his recliner with his butt in the chair and feet on the floor. I can honestly say I’ve owned many animals before, but have never connected with one like I do him. He is my best friend, he knows it, and insists on it. His human-like personality makes it impossible to not love and adore him. And his intelligence is so profound. He learns so quickly and picks up not only on commands but also our movements and social queues. It’s been an absolute joy raising him and I’d definitely do it 10x over again. Our life has been enriched and we are forever changed by our boy Ragnar!!! Thank you for allowing me to participate in this!!!
